Teamlifting, a member of the Cargo Equipment Experts CEE network, replaced a 49.9 ton GT 11 generator rotor at the Qurayyah power plant in Saudi Arabia.

A 3 metre high structure was built to compensate for the 4.5 m height of the rotor axis above ground. Sliding beams were arranged on top of the structure for a distance of 20 m and specially prepared trolleys were used over these beams to pull out the rotor.

After removal, the rotor was transported by hydraulic low loader trailer to the ISCOSA (Siemens) workshop more than 80 kilometres away for repair. It was then taken back to the power plant and reinstalled, using the same jacking and skidding system.

Cargo Equipment Experts CEE is a global network of equipment owners, including haulers, crane operators, tug and barge operators, stevedores and export packers, port operators, rail operators, riggers and skidders, surveyors, air cargo handling equipment owners and supporting industry, serving the heavy and oversized cargo industry.
