Almost 300 delegates attended the two day World Crane and Transport Summit in Amsterdam, the Netherlands on 22 and 23 October.

Top representatives from crane and transport companies, equipment manufacturers, associations and standards bodies from around the world met to discuss industry issues. These included new safety standards for design and use of equipment, issues for operators and business.

Highlights for the 289 attendees included the signing of an international agreement to foster closer working with common aims for harmonised standards, licensing and ways of working. Members of the new World Crane and Transport Alliance are the Specialized Carriers and Rigging Association (SC&RA), European Association of Heavy Haulage, Transport and Cranes (ESTA), Crane Industry Council of Australia (CICA), New Zealand Heavy Haulage Association (NZHHA), Crane Association of Canada (CRAoC).

There was also a productive and detailed debate on issues and proposals related to the amendment of the EN 13000 standard for cranes regarding rated capacity limiters.
