What you need to know about Conexpo-Con/Agg 2023

Already on the near horizon is the biggest trade show of 2023 for manufacturers and buyers alike. ICST previews ConExpo-Con/Agg.

Last ConExpo, March 2020, marked the real start of the covid pandemic as everything began to close down.

Cranes at ConExpo-Con/Agg Show organiser AEM said ConExpo-Con/Agg 2023 will be the biggest ever.

A lot has changed in the intervening period and now things are returning to normal. Some great news for ConExpo-Con/Agg, the industry’s largest show in 2023, is that it is bigger than last time and all the extra exhibit space is sold out.

Even by early December 2022 all available space was booked, according to the show organiser, the Association of Equipment Manufacturers, (AEM).

The biggest ConExpo ever

AEM said the 2023 show will be the largest in history. “The addition of the new West Hall and Diamond Lot at the Las Vegas Convention Center gave us, and our exhibitors, a number of new opportunities to show how we are taking the construction industry to the next level,” said show director Dana Wuesthoff.

“Now at 2.8 million square feet [260,000 square metres] of exhibits, there’s more for construction pros to see than ever before.”

Like last October’s Bauma trade show was a little different, ConExpo will be too. An example is that Manitowoc Cranes will not be an exhibitor although some of its distributors will be showing cranes.

Held just five months earlier, the manufacturer put its resources into Bauma, instead of this ConExpo.

On the other side of the coin, US companies and equipment manufacturers with American subsidiaries that didn’t participate at Bauma, plan to make a big splash in Las Vegas.

ConExpo-Con/Agg key information

The largest construction trade show in North America. It connects professionals from every major construction sector.

Held every three years, the show aims to “help construction professionals elevate their industry expertise, experience the newest equipment and products through demonstrations and industry-leading education, make new professional connections and grow their own marketability within the industry.”

When is ConExpo-Con/Agg?

The show takes place between 14 to 18 March 2023.

Where is ConExpo-Con/Agg?

The show is being held at the Las Vegas ConventionCenter, Las Vegas, USA.

The show is now nearly five per cent bigger than the record set in 2020. It will have 1,800 exhibitors and 150 education sessions. More than 150,000 attendees are expected.

Wuesthoff said even though it is the largest ConExpo, recent additions to the Las Vegas Convention Center (LVCC) will make it easier to get around.

Beneath the entire LVCC campus runs the Convention Center Loop, an underground transport system to get people around in under two minutes, using Tesla vehicles and free of charge.

“We are excited to welcome Conexpo-Con/Agg back to Las Vegas for another record-setting event,” said Brian Yost, chief operating officer of the Las Vegas Convention and Visitors Authority, which owns and operates the LVCC. “The addition of the West Hall and the Convention Center Loop will only further enhance the ‘Only Vegas’ experience for attendees and exhibitors.”

How many people attend ConExpo-Con/Agg?

The pace of attendee registration is nearly double what it was for the 2020 show, AEM reported.

“This is the event that construction professionals, especially those making company-level decisions, and those needing professional development hours, can’t miss,” said Phil Kelliher, show chair and Caterpillar senior vice president.

“Seeing the new equipment and techniques on a screen doesn’t compare to seeing it in person. At the show, you can see the equipment, ask questions of the manufacturers and really understand what the equipment and education can do for your career and business.”
