The UK’s largest crawler crane rental specialist, Weldex, has ordered 11 new units from Liebherr.

The order, worth more than Euro 20 milluion (US$ million), was marked during the Bauma exhibition in Munich, Germany last week with the handover of one of the new units. A highlight of the order was one unit of the new 1,000 tonne capacity LR 11000 lattice boom crawler. Other lattice boom models ordered were two 600 tonne capacity LR 1600s and one of the 250 tonne capacity LR 1250, a new model. Telescopic crawlers in the order were three 220 tonne capacity LTR 1220s, two 100 tonne capacity LTR 1100s and two 60 tonne capacity LTR 1060s.

Iain McGilvray, Weldex managing director, said, “This order enables us to maintain and upgrade our fleet, offering more options to our ever expanding customer base. The LR 11000 cranes fit nicely into the existing fleet and give greater options between the 750 tonne and 1,350 tonne machines we currently run.”

Dougie McGilvray, Weldex CEO, said, “the reliability of the Liebherr cranes combined with first class Liebherr after sales service, give Weldex confidence to use the equipment in their prestigious accounts, where reputation is everything. The new machines are destined for projects in the oil, gas and renewable energy sectors, both in the UK and further afield.”
