Tower crane insight from ITC 2012 available for download

13 November 2012

Exclusive videos are available of presentations made at the International Tower Cranes conference in Berlin, Germany on 11 October 2012.

A programme tackling broad range of topical issues and strong attendance made a success of the second International Tower Cranes conference, held in October at the Kempinski Hotel Bristol in Berlin, Germany. Speakers delved into the current and future health of the global tower crane market and discussed the challenges facing major rental companies.

The first in a series of exclusive videos available for download, is the presentation by Chris Sleight, editor of IC sister publication International Construction.

Highlights of Sleight’s presentation include a forecast that world construction would grow by 4% in 2012, mainly thanks to emerging markets. Sleight explained, however, that greater growth was held back by the debt crisis in Europe, where the market faced a 0.4% overall decline in 2012.

Looking to the future, Sleight said that global urbanisation, leading to 75% of the population living in cities by 2050, would provide great potential for the tower crane industry.

More than 150 industry professionals from around the world attended the one-day conference and networking event organised by International Cranes and Specialized Transport magazine, a KHL publication.

There were 16 speakers at the conference, which was followed by a networking evening reception.

We will be adding a new video from the event each week, so keep checking KHL.com's Videozone for more new content from ITC 2012.
