Terex Noell ERTGs head to China port

11 July 2011

Ningbo Port Group's Yuandong terminal in China has ordered four Terex Noell elevated busbar rubber-tyred gantry cranes (ERTG).

Engineered with space-restricted container stacking and handling, the four ERTGs will address the rapid growth of operations following the Yuandong terminal development, which is phase five of the Ningbo Port Group expansion. The order for the Yuandong phase five expansion will bring the number of Terex RTGs run by Ningbo Port Group to 139 units. Delivery is scheduled for the fourth quarter 2011.

"This contract was awarded on the basis of the machines' excellent quality/price ratio, and the need to sustain our capacity to handle containerized goods reliably and cost-effectively as our terminal continues to grow," says Mr. Chen Yongning, Engineering department manager, Yuandong phase four. Throughput at Ningbo reached 13 million TEUs in 2010, a 25% increase compared on 2009, making it China's third biggest port.

"For Terex Port Equipment, this new order demonstrates our customer's confidence in our commitment to the growth of its business in China. We are proud to have been chosen to continue to support our customer in the successful development of its Phase V Yuandong port terminal," said Ken Lousberg Terex China president.
