Stirniman extents Potain contract
25 May 2011
Manitowoc renewed its contract with Stirnimann, its distributor for Potain tower crane sales in Switzerland.
Stirnimann has sold Potain cranes exclusively in Switzerland since 1986, and the company also represents Manitowoc's Grove mobile cranes.
Klaus Kroeppel, vice president of sales for Central and Eastern Europe at Manitowoc, said Stirnimann is a great example of a successful distribution partner. "One of the foundations of Manitowoc's industry-leading sales and service operations is its solid dealer network," he said.
"The company [Stirnimann] has an excellent reputation in the industry and the ability to deliver and service our cranes across Switzerland. Our two companies know each other well, and we look forward to a profitable future together."
Fritz Oschwald, managing director of Stirnimann, said his company's experience with Potain over the past 25 years has given Stirnimann a deep understanding of the company and its cranes.
"Both Manitowoc and Stirnimann share the same belief that the distributor adds real value in the market, by responding swiftly and knowledgeably to the needs of our customers. Because Potain cranes are so robust, versatile and easy to install, they are popular in Switzerland, where contractors often need to place cranes in tight urban areas or hard-to-access mountainous regions."
Founded in 1915, Stirnimann is a leading supplier of building equipment and heavy machinery for the construction market, and runs a large rental fleet of self-erecting cranes and top slewing tower cranes.
