Sommer Kranverleih expands with Liebherr
23 September 2014
Crane rental company Sommer Kranverleih, based in Bremen, Germany, has added a 6-axle Liebherr LTM 1300-6.2 mobile crane to its fleet.
The LTM 1300-6.2 has a 78 metre telescopic boom and can be fitted with a luffing lattice jib up to a height of 70 m, the manufacturer said. The 300 tonne capacity crane is the company's first with a luffing fly jib, a spokesperson added.
The crane was collected by company owner Franz Sommer and son Björn Sommer at the Liebherr plant in Ehingen. Björn Sommer, said, “Our customer's needs are growing when it comes to weight and lifting height. Since our largest crane, the 220 tonne capacity LTM 1220-5.2, could no longer reach everywhere, we decided to purchase the new LTM 1300-6.2 with the luffing fly jib. As the smallest luffing fly jib crane on the market, it's perfect for getting us into this category. We like the weight advantage of the new design with just one engine, too.”
Sommer’s new LTM 1300-6.2 joins a fleet of Liebherr mobile cranes, including an LTM 1055-3.2, an LTM 1130-5.1 and two LTM 1090-4.1 cranes, all of which were purchased this year. The LTM 1300-6.2 will be used for industrial installations, erections of tower cranes and for the repair and dismantling of smaller wind power plants, a spokesperson said.
