Safety in sight from Orlaco

26 January 2010

Netherlands-based construction company Dura Vermeer has equipped 20 of its tower cranes with Orlaco's newest monitoring system to improve onsite safety. The wireless auto focus zoom camera system is fitted to the trolley.

The order came after Dura Vermeer noticed that working speeds and load weights were increasing. "The Dura Vermeer machine operators have little or no view of their load in a lot of projects, despite the fact that they are primarily responsible for safety during lifting. Dura Vermeer identified the need for a better view of the load and the lifting site and good communication with the banksman so loads can be moved more effectively," said an Orlaco spokesman.

The camera battery automatically charges when the trolley is in the starting position, so the crane machine operator does not have to connect and disconnect any cables. The camera is attached above the winch, meaning the machine operator can zoom in on the load or zoom out for an overview of the lifting site as required.
