Van der Vlist transporting pipe laying machines in Scotland

Special transport company Van der Vlist transported two large crawler mounted Liebherr RL64 pipe laying machines from Austria to Scotland, UK.

For the first part of the project the machines, which weigh 40 tonnes each and measure 4 metres wide, were loaded onto semi-low loaders and transported from Austria to Holland, Netherlands, where the machines were modified for the customer.

After two weeks at the facility in Holland, the machines were loaded onto the semi-low loaders and transported to Rotterdam, where they were driven onto a ferry bound for Killingholme in the UK.

On arrival the machines were driven 850 km to Wick in northern Scotland. After overcoming challenges such as single track roads, the transport and its escort arrived in Wick, where the machines will be used for pipe laying.
