Paul Brown retires from Tadano

After almost 23 years at Tadano Faun in Germany Paul Brown has retired.

Born in Glasgow, Scotland, Brown spent most of his later school life in Billingham in the North East of England. After graduating from the London School of Economics with a B.Sc (Econ) honours degree and going on to gain a PCE from the University of London, he went to Italy in 1973 where he taught English in Milan and Rome before starting his crane career in 1977 with P&H in Rome. There he married his first wife and his first son was born there.

His second son was born in Dortmund, Germany, where Brown moved in 1980 to the P&H facility. He held several positions in sales and marketing and saw some of the first all terrain cranes from P&H (WS-250M and later the Omega S 15 series which were developed and produced there in a response to an idea and request from the Sparrow brothers). Brown's main activities were product development and research, product marketing, statistics and sales and product training.

In 1989 Brown joined Faun GmbH in Lauf as area sales manager for the Middle East but left in 1990 only to return a year later to the newly formed company Tadano Faun GmbH, following the Tadano takeover, as product manager. In the 1990s, Brown’s main duties were mainly in product marketing and training, helping to spread the all terrain crane message to Tadano in Japan, at the branch offices and to distributors.

Since 2002 Brown has concentrated on sales, as area sales manager responsible for the UK and Ireland, Italy, Poland and the Baltic countries, Bulgaria, Serbia and Croatia.

He has travelled extensively and is a well-known figure in the crane world.

Brown remarried in 1995 and lives in Schnaittach, Germany, with his second wife Ina. His hobbies are birdwatching, hiking and photography.
