Havator has been selected as crane services contractor on the new ferrochrome plant at Outokumpu's mine at Kemi, Finland.

The contract includes planning and executing mobile crane services, co-ordinating those crane services and monitoring safety. Scheduled completion is the latter half of 2012 and the project will employ tens of Havator personnel and cranes, mainly in the Kemi-Tornio area.

"Outokumpu and Havator have worked together ever since ground was first broken at the Kemi mine, and Havator has been involved in the construction of the ferrochromium and stainless steel plants from the very beginning as well. Outokumpu has strong focus to develop occupational safety performance. For Havator safety comes first and is number-one priority, which has to show in our day-to-day operations," said Jussi Yli-Niemi, Havator Group CEO.
