The family crane and transport business Kraanbedrijf Nederhoff, based in the Netherlands, has been handed over to the third generation.

It was founded in 1949 by C Nederhoff and handed over to his four children, the second generation, in 1987. Brothers Pieter, Kees, Jan and Ron expanded the company which now has three branches, in Gouda, Vianen and Rotterdam. There are around 100 employees and a similar number of mobile cranes, tractor units, and other heavy equipment.

The current management said in recent years it investigated options for continuing the crane operation. It was decided to hand it over to the third generation. On 2 May 2022 Taco (Pieter’s son) and Sjoerd (Ron’s son) took over Kraanbedrijf Nederhoff from their uncles and fathers.

As they approach retirement the second generation will work with the third to ensure a successful business transfer, the company said. Pieter has already retired, while Kees, Jan and Ron will gradually reduce their involvement.

Taco and Sjoerd have already been working for several years in the company. Taco has been there more than 12 years, the last 5 of which as technical director. Before that he was at Spierings Mobile Cranes and others. Sjoerd joined 3.5 years ago having worked in the financial sector before that.

Kraanbedrijf Nederhoff’s fleet includes cranes up to 700 tonnes and it handles exceptional transport loads up to 500 tonnes.
