Verope has opened a service centre in Zweibrücken, Germany to provide specialist equipment and increased warehousing.

To assist its growth plan, the special wire rope company's 3,600 square metre facility has been fitted out with equipment to process wire ropes with special end fittings, testing equipment and will offer research and development.

The equipment will include standard and custom fittings, a fatigue test stand up to 34 mm, a tensile tester, as well as flexibility and form stability testing capabilities.

A research and development centre will also be set up at the facility named Verope Service Centre. "The aim is to permanently monitor the quality of the latest products and to enhance and further develop special wire ropes," said a company spokesperson.

Further testing machines will be introduced. They will provide bending fatigue tests for diameters from 6 to 34 mm, efficiency tests over the complete load range and throughout the rope's lifetime, and tensile tests and modulus measurements up to 250 tonnes.

In addition, analysis of elongation, lay length and reduction of diameter under load will be possible, along with the recording of wire breaks using a sophisticated contact-free video-extensometer.

Measurement of rotation properties (torque factor and rotation angle) up to 36 mm will also be available on a newly developed test stand, and measurement of torque factor under loads up to 250 tonnes will be possible. Other features include rope flexibility, lateral pressure stability and lateral pressure stability measurement.
