More Potain cranes shipped than in 2022

As of August 29, 2023, Potain’s Zhangjiagang factory in China, a subsidiary of Manitowoc, has shipped more tower cranes than it did in the entire year of 2022.

From January to August, shipments from the plant surged by 44.5 per cent compared to the same period last year.

Additionally, the factory reported a 66.6 % year-on-year jump in equipment transactions in the second quarter, with cranes exceeding 180 tonne meters making up over 71.2 % of those transactions.

In May this year, Potain announced its biggest large top tower crane. The new new MCT 1105 flat top tower crane lifts 50 tonnes at a radius of 21.8 metres. It is the largest flat top model built at the company’s Zhangjiagang plant in China, taking that title from the MCT 1005 M50 launched only last year.

The company said that the Zhangjiagang factory’s ability to exceed its 2023 production target is due to its large production capacity. To meet market demands, the factory has recently broadened its production scope and heightened efficiency with new equipment and technology.
