Maximising the fly jib

Having the longest reach of Fassi's new F950AXP model range, released in May 2008, is the .28 L426 fly-jib version. Its lift capability is 300 kg at maximum horizontal extension of 37.35 m. Maximum capacity, which is at a reach of 7.45 m, is 2,600 kg. Lift capacity at full horizontal extension of 16.35 m, without fly jib, is 480 kg.

The F950AXP reflects the design concept of the old F750 that became the F1000, but it is as light (ranging from 7,300 to 8,450 kg) as the F750. The F950AXP's sub-frame is lighter and wider, and it has bigger outriggers and high-torsion boom sections to provide the greater capacity.

Fassi said it achieved zero tolerance in the extension alignment of the eight-section lower, six-section outer booms by shimming the sections' roller guides. "Double" levels of safety include programmed control of the hydraulic sequence valve to forbid extension of the 7th and 8th sections and a micro switch, which must detect retraction of those sections before enabling movement.
