Turkish container terminal operator Mardaş Marmara Denizcilik Işletmeleri (Mardaş) has modified six of its Terex Gottwald Model 7 mobile harbour cranes at the Port of Ambarli in Turkey.

Modifications included extending each crane’s tower by 5 metres, increasing the working radius from 51 to 54 m and increasing the height of the boom pivot point, a company spokesperson said.

Galip Kendigelen, Mardaş general manager, said, “Our container terminal is located in the largest port in Turkey and at an interface between Asia and Europe, where maritime trade is growing steadily. Since the first retrofitted cranes became operational, the flexibility of our fleet has increased considerably.”

In total two G HMK 7608 and four G HMK 7408 underwent changes to help the port handle vessels with higher container stacks.

The modifications were carried out by Terex Port Solutions (TPS) and service partner, Eksen Makina Servis Ticaret (Eksen).
