Gottwald Port Technology GmbH has sold mobile harbour cranes (MHC) to Lebanon and Qatar which, it says, strengthens its position in the Middle East.

Beirut Container Terminal Consortium (BCTC), Lebanon, has ordered a G HMK 4406 Model 4 MHC. Qatar Petroleum has opted for another G HMK 6407 Model 6 MHC. A further MHC, a G HMK 4406, was Gottwald's first Generation 5 MHC in Lebanon and started work in December 2009 at the Port of Beirut.

Gottwald's Model 4, the latest addition to the Generation 5 family, is designed to be compact and versatile with lifting capacities of up to 100 tonnes and a maximum radius of 46 m. This means it is suited to universal and special-purpose terminals, as well as working alongside vessels up to Panamax class, says the manufacturer.
