His Excellency Engineer Ahmad Mohammed Shareef, under secretary of the Department of Municipal Affairs Abu Dhabi (pictured centre cutting the ribbon), opens the first Intermat Middle East exhibition.

Intermat Middle East, the new construction equipment exhibition for the region, opened in Abu Dhabi today (Monday, March 28).

The show was opened by His Excellency Engineer Ahmad Mohammed Shareef, under secretary of the Department of Municipal Affairs Abu Dhabi (pictured centre cutting the opening ribbon).

Covering two exhibition halls and an outdoor area, the show plays host to many top industry names including Liebherr, Doosan, Bobcat, Manitowoc, Sandvik, Hyundai, Case, Metso Minerals, Shantui and many more.

The show takes place at what the region hopes is a time of change. Construction markets throughout the Middle East and North Africa (MENA region) have declined significantly over recent years but many believe that a recovery, albeit modest, is just around the corner.

Investment in construction throughout the MENA region is expected to exceed US$620 billion over the next three years - a level that will almost certainly stimulate sales of construction equipment and rental activity.
