Huisman to build giant gantry on new quayside

Huisman has begun work on a new quayside in China, to include a 2,400 tonne capacity overhead travelling gantry.
The Huisman China facility will be easily accessible for seagoing vessels, said the company, and designed for fast installation, commissioning and testing of offshore construction equipment.
The US$ 120 million investment includes a gravity quayside with a 380 m coastline. 25 caissons will be installed, 20 of which weigh 5,800 tonnes.
The front edge of the quay will have the Huisman designed and built 2,400 tonne capacity travelling crane. The new quayside is planned to be operational in January 2012.
Huisman, a specialist in heavy lifting, pipelay and drilling equipment already with production facilities in the Netherlands and the Czech Republic, expanded operations to Fujian (Xiamen area) in 2007.
Huisman China has 17 production halls, including a 205 m long, 54 m wide and 62 m tall hall, a shot blasting and painting hall and a maintenance facility, which also accommodates a welding school.
Huisman China has delivered more than 25 cranes, including the 5,000 tonne offshore mast crane for the Seven Borealis built last year.
