World Power, based in Turkey, has launched a 40 tonne capacity articulated loader crane and will produce a 130 tonne capacity knuckle boom crane on an all terrain type carrier.

The 40 tonne ER120.000 L-7+5 articulated loader crane has a seven-extension boom and a five section jib. The nine-sided boom is designed to increase strength while reducing the weight of the boom structure to comply with road regulations for a 6x4 truck.

"The main advantage of this knuckle boom is its compact design. Its dimensions are less than other cranes of the same capacity and it can manoeuvre in narrow workspaces like factories," said Guvenc Tokgoz, World Power global sales manager.

In the next 12 months the manufacturer will launch a 130 tonne capacity all terrain knuckle boom, effectively an articulated loader crane mounted on an all terrain chassis.

The model will complement the company's existing 150 tonne capacity ER.450000L-8 all terrain knuckle boom, claimed by the manufacturer as the only crane of its kind in the world. The chassis was designed and produced by the manufacturer and is available in four and five axle versions. The five axle version carries more counterweight. According to the company, the multi-axle steering means the machine can manoeuvre easily in restricted spaces.

The new 130 tonne crane has axle loadings of 14 tonnes. "This does not comply in some European countries and, to overcome this problem, we have designed the all terrain with 130 tonne capacity knuckle boom," explained Tokgoz.
