GIS show on course for October

The eighth iteration of the Italian GIS show for the access, lifting and specialized transport sectors is on course to go ahead from 7 to 9 October following a government decree allowing exhibitions and conferences to be held from 1 July.

The show takes place in Piacenza and will have more than 300 exhibitors, covering suppliers of aerial platforms, cranes, port handling equipment and specialized transport products.

This year's GIS show takes place from 7 to 9 October, 2021.

Fabio Potestà, Mediapoint & Exhibitions director, the show organiser, said; “Despite the still difficult health situation over 300 companies have already confirmed their exhibiting presence at GIS 2021”.

Potestà said the cancellation and postponement of other industry events had increased the level of interest in this year’s GIS show; “At this stage, we don’t know if GIS 2021 will achieve the same number of exhibitors – 428 – and visitors – over 11,000 – as the 2019 edition, but we have seen that the most important brands, typically, have booked larger stands at our show.”

Other national events for the access and crane sector scheduled for 2021 include the French JDL Expo from 23 to 25 June, the German Platformers’ Days show on 10 and 11 September and Vertikal Days in the UK on 22 and 23 September.

Three gala dinners will be held alongside GIS, including awards events for the access, port handling, and cranes and transport sectors.

The location of the dinners, said Potestà, will be announced “as soon as we know capacity limits for indoor dining, rules on how many diners will be allowed at each table, etc. Everything will be conducted in accordance with the forthcoming Covid-19 regulations.”

Covid-19 restrictions will also require the creation of new conferences areas at the Piacenza exhibition centre, to accommodate social distancing measures.
