Swiss crane and heavy haulage contractor Friderici Spécial SA Transports ordered an LTM 1650‑8.1 wheeled mobile crane after seeing Liebherr’s prototype at Bauma 2019 in Germany.

It was the first time Liebherr had unveiled the prototype for its new 700 tonne capacity 8-axle machine. The 1650, which replaces the LTM 1500-8.1, has boom options of 54 or 80 metres.

Jean-Paul Friderici, general manager at Friderici Spécial, said, “Its enormous capacity on eight axles totally convinced us. We have also had a good deal of positive experience with the LTM 1500-8.1.”

The family-run company also ordered a telescopic boom guying and a luffing jib for the unit, which will operate on a wide range of construction and infrastructure projects.

Jean-Paul Friderici added, “The lifting capacity and radius requirements of our market are increasing. That is why we are investing in a more powerful mobile crane.”
