Express Global Logistics (EXG) co-ordinated the move of a large and heavy cargo from Tarapur in Maharashtra, to Barmer in Rajasthan, India.

The company transported the cargo for a well-known industrial company and dealt with the pre-planning and logistics of the operation.

EXG’s involvement included transportation, railway shutdowns, civil work at various points, and the dismantling of a toll plaza. The toll plaza had to be dismantled and reconstructed due to the cargo’s height and length.

The team dealt with heavy non-seasonal rains rendering the roads pot-holed and uneven in many places, making the movement risky for the cargo. Civil work was done in several areas along the way.

EXG’s asset management, heavy hauling, and engineering teams co-ordinated to create detailed plans well in advance of the cargo’s movement, and ultimately all the packages were delivered successfully.

The cargo consisted of:

  • An absorber column (which allows separation of gases from liquids) which had dimensions of 32.3 x 3.4 x 3.7 metres and weighed 75 tonnes.
  • A stripper column (which helps remove volatiles from water) which had dimensions of 42.05 x 5 x 5.7 metres and weighed 220 tonnes. This was moved using a 12.5 metre spacer.
  • A naphtha stabiliser column (used for distillation) which had dimensions of 50.7 x 4.8 x 5.4 metres and weighed 129 tonnes. This was moved using a 14.6 metre spacer.
  • A swing naphtha stripper (a heavy gases condenser) which had dimensions of 36.5 x 6.2 x 6.7 metres and weighed 92 tonnes. This was moved using a 10 metre spacer.
