Cutting the Ribbon: The opening of the Talbert Liberty facility

Heavy-haul solutions company, Talbert Manufacturing, has officially opened its newly expanded Liberty facility in North Carolina, USA.

The event was attended by the company’s senior management team, with president Andrew Tanner, co-owner Russ Stern and several others all participating in the ribbon cutting.

Once owned by trailer manufacturer Ferree Trailers, which Talbert acquired in 2014, the original Liberty facility measured 5,500 sq m (60,000 sq ft). With the additional 5,400 sq m (58,000 sq ft) of extra space, it now measures approximately 11,000 sq m (120,000 sq ft).

The opening of the Liberty facility marks the completion of the company’s Liberty Trailer LLC upgrade, which began in 2018 as part of the company’s overall growth plan.

Owned by Talbert, Liberty Trailers LLC will manufacture Talbert’s Tag-A-Long Series, Traveling Axle Series and Hydraulic Tail Series trailers.

Andrew Tanner, president of Talbert Manufacturing, said: “In 1938, Austin Talbert set out to change the heavy-haul industry. With the expansion of Liberty Trailers LLC, Talbert Manufacturing is closer than ever to realising his vision of customer-driven design that meets the ever-changing needs of the hauling industry. We’re able to double our current output, allowing us meet the needs of our Tag-A-Long customers and dealers across the US and Canada so we can continue growing together.”

In addition to providing extra space, the expansion also included two state-of-the-art painting booths, overhead cranes and a large finishing area.

Talbert said the equipment and staging areas had been designed to ensure optimum flow throughout the manufacturing process. According to the company this would allow production to grow past its current goals, while still maintaining safety and durability.

With the increased production capabilities provided by the expansion, the manufacturer said it would now look to increase dealer and customer support throughout North America.
