Enercon has bought two Liebherr LTR 1100s to assemble wind turbine generators

Worldwide wind power company Enercon, based in Germany, has taken delivery of two 100 tonne capacity Liebherr LTR 1100 telescopic crawler cranes.

"A crucial factor in Enercon's decision was the excellent operational flexibility, the short erection times and the high lifting capacities," said the company.

For its first job using one of the two cranes, it took less than 2.5 hours to assemble the central ballast, totalling 15 tonnes, along with the two crawler beams and the 32 tonne slewing platform counterweight.

"The LTR 1100 handles the complete erection process by itself. Enercon transported the Liebherr telescopic crawler crane, complete with ballast, economically on only two low loaders. The machine's transportation width, with detached crawler beams, is only 3 m," Enercon added.
