Heavy lift and specialized transport company ALE completed the second stage of a transport project across the Mangystau desert in Kazakhstan.

The project consisted of transporting a 140 tonne steam turbine and 180 tonne generator from Ersai in Kazakhstan to the Tashkent Thermal Power Plant in Uzbekistan.

The cargo was moved along the 2,200 km route through the Mangystau desert using 34 axle lines of conventional trailers with three heavy duty prime movers.

Ali Yoldashov, ALE regional operations manager, said, “ALE was awarded the contract for the second stage after the client was impressed with the project management of the complex and challenging route and the professionalism shown during the first stage last year. The high equipment utilisation of ALE’s on-site facilities resulted in minimal standby time and a timely delivery.”

It took one month to transport the steam turbine and generator to the Tashkent Thermal Power Plant.
