Rotterdam-based De Gier BV has taken delivery of the first Terex Challenger 3160 all terrain crane in the Netherlands.
The transport, lift and rental firm recently purchased the 55 tonne capacity crane and has already been putting it through its paces, with the crane operating as many as three lifts per day.
Projects have included general construction and scaffolding work, to the placement of air-conditioning units, satellite dishes and aerials. De Gier has also used the Challenger as an auxiliary crane for large all terrain cranes, using it to rig an AC 350 in luffing jib and SSL configuration.
The De Gier team also chose the Challenger 3160 to help dismantle the components of a gantry crane weighing 10,200 kg at 10 metres radius from a height of 12 m.
The 3160's compact size and ability to travel within 12 tonne axle load limits has also proved useful, according to company owner Richard De Gier.
