Bigge makes major fleet expansion

25 May 2011

Bigge Crane and Rigging has added nearly 20 cranes to its nationwide fleet in the USA during 2011.

One of them is a 600 tonne Liebherr LR1600/2 crawler crane which is destined for wind turbine erection. Bigge was among the first to operate an LR1600/1 in the US and has now added this second unit to its fleet. Both cranes are on rent at a major wind farm in the Midwest. Bigge has also purchased another 400 tonne Manitowoc 16000 crawler, its sixth.

On the all-terrain front, Bigge recently bulked up its fleet with four 220 tonne Liebherr LTM-1220/5.2 all terrain cranes.

Finally, Bigge added fourteen new large rough terrains, including four 100 tonne capacity RT9130s. It is among one of the largest capacity RTs and has the longest reach in its class, says the company, at almost 200 feet (60 m).

Bigge has also added 10 90 US-ton capacity Link-Belt RTC8090 Series II cranes. The new Link-Belt's feature an innovative boom design giving this crane the best chart in its class, added the company.

Bigge bare rents cranes coast-to-coast out of locations in six US states, from California to Virginia.
