Altec, Inc., based in Birmingham, Alabama, USA, plans to contribute US$500,000 to assist in relief and rebuilding efforts following the devastating tornadoes that struck Alabama and surrounding states in early May.

"While Altec maintains operations and facilities throughout the world, we have called Alabama our home for over 81 years," said Lee Styslinger III, chairman and CEO. "We are committed to helping our neighbors in the many communities affected by this unprecedented disaster. Altec recognizes that it is going to require a long-term commitment to help rebuild and restore the areas affected by this devastation. We plan to stay actively involved and contribute to the restoration efforts during the days, months and years to come."

Altec will also partner with various local relief agencies to provide volunteer assistance in areas hardest hit by storm damage. Altec associates will be working with those relief organizations to provide voluntary services and will receive a paid day off for their volunteer work. In addition, Altec has established drop-off locations at its corporate offices in Birmingham, where associates and the general public can bring donations for the American Red Cross' Tornado Disaster Relief Fund.

Altec is a leading equipment and service provider for the electric utility, telecommunications and contractor markets.
