ALL adds 10 Manitowoc 2250s to fleet

In response to high utilization, ALL Erection & Crane Rental Corp. has inked a number of deals that will add 83 cranes to its nationwide fleet, with the most recent being a 10-unit order with Manitowoc.

President Michael Liptak told American Cranes & Transport exclusively that “demand is as strong as 2008 levels and all of our branches have an appetite for new equipment.”

The equipment, which includes 10 new, 300-ton Manitowoc 2250s, 66 Link-Belts and seven new Liebherr units, will be spread across ALL’s 34 branches.

“We are very busy in energy, but also road and bridge work is in overdrive and construction is creeping back,” Liptak said. “Now take all of that demand and combine it with a robust used equipment market and it is easy to appreciate that we need to replenish the fleet.”

Liptak said buying equipment now is important because the demand affects the entire business cycle.

“In some cases, manufacturers are pushed into the third and even fourth quarters,” he said. “So, although many of the new cranes will start working their way immediately to our yards, delivery will continue through 2013. The new machines will answer local needs — from daily rentals to major projects begging for longer-term equipment commitments.”

Of the new equipment, the seven Liebherr cranes include the new LTM 1750-9.1 900-ton all terrain crane.

A 9-axle 18-wheeler, the Liebherr LTM 1750-9.1 was designed to fill the gap between Liebherr’s 600-ton and 1500-ton all terrains. Rated at 900 tons, LTM 1750-9.1 offers improved mobility, transportability, and quick assembly, all on a chassis no longer than that of a 600-ton crane.

“This LTM 1750-9.1 AT is going to be a game changer for 900-ton machines due to its transportability and self erection capabilities,” Liptak said.

ALL’s new LTM 1750-9.1 is only the second of its type to enter the U.S. market.

The full Liebherr order includes five all terrain cranes: the previously mentioned LTM 1750-9.1; an all-new 235-ton LTM 1130-5.1; and three additional models already represented in the fleet—a 220-ton LTM 1200-5.1; a 200-ton LTM 1160-5.1; and a 500-ton LTM 1400-7.1.

Rounding out the full seven-crane package are two of the new 50-ton compact truck crane, the LTC 1045-3.1. ALL loaded its LTC 1045-3.1 units with the optional telescopic crane cab, which brings the driver up to eye level at 25 feet high, providing the best possible line of sight for assembly and loading work.

The ALL Erection Liebherr order follows on from a recent 66-unit order with Link-Belt for a range of truck cranes, rough terrain cranes and crawler cranes.

The package deal, set to be rolled out throughout 2013, includes 14 truck cranes, 32 rough terrain cranes and 20 crawler cranes.
