Hiab’s iQ.958 HiPro is a new 90 tonne-metre rated articulating crane.

As the second unit in the iQ series it follows the 110 tonne-metre range-topping iQ.1188 HiPro launched in November 2021. A key feature of the latest model is the new SpaceEvo operating system to improve productivity and safer operation, Hiab said.

It has the dodecagonal (12-sided) V12-Power boom and jib profile. This design allows a light and compact crane, the company said. It can be installed on smaller trucks, within the 4 axle, 32 tonne gross vehicle weight category for permit-free travel. The manufacturer said it leaves enough payload to potentially reduce the number of trips needed on a job. This, with the lower weight, helps improve fuel consumption and reduce carbon dioxide emission.

Features of the new SpaceEvo control system include VSL+ (Variable Stability Logic Plus) to maximise lifting capacity by calculating the stability according to the position of the stabiliser legs and the total weight of the truck. DLC-S (Dynamic Load Chart) allows faster set up by simulating the load capacity before opening the stabilisers which avoids losing time finding the correct stabiliser position for maximum lifting.

Instead of the standard XS Drive remote control, the new CombiDrive 4 can be specified. It boasts new safety features, for example, Confirm View to find the best field of view for the operator.

“The Hiab iQ.958 HiPro is a technologically advanced crane for its category, offering great performance for a wide variety of lifts both in horizontal and vertical positions. The crane offers among the best in class lifting performance when using the eighth extension in combination with the jib with six extensions [Jib 155Q]. This maximises the available jib power to provide superior load capability,” said Marcel Boxem, Hiab director, global product management, loader cranes heavy and super heavy.

The new iQ.958 HiPro will be available in non-CE versions, with the Space X4 control system and optional CombiDrive 3 remote control.
