Marine transporter for US repair company

The Marine Travelift transporter has a capacity of 80 tonnes

New York, USA-based Smith Boys Marine Sales, a group of full service boat repair shops and marinas, has added to its fleet with a Marine Travelift TM80 self-propelled hydraulic transporter.

The new equipment, which has a capacity of 80 tonnes, is the latest addition to the company’s lineup of Marine Travelift machines and hoists, which it says will aid in the development of its commercial business.

The TM80 has variable width adjustment to accommodate a range of vessel beams (widths) and different hull designs. Also included are five sets of hydraulic inclinable pads which are controlled by a wireless remote, and crab steering to maximise manoeuvrability.

Units can be used on their own or in tandem with mobile boat hoists. Standard TM series transporters are available in capacities from 20 to 160 tonnes. Larger units can be built to special order.

The new TM80 transporter has allowed the Smith Boys yard to efficiently manoeuvre workboats through shop doors too narrow to accommodate the large boat hoists already on site. This means service teams can perform seasonal maintenance inside during winter, reducing downtime for vessel owners.

The transporter will be used to expand the company’s commercial business
