Foselev and Ponticelli form GIE Megalift

Cranes and people together GIE Megalift is a new joint-venture business formed by Foselev and Ponticelli

GIE Megalift is a new heavy lifting specialist business in France formed jointly by the Foselev Group and the Ponticelli Frères Group.

The new venture’s activities will encompass promotion, marketing, preparation and execution of heavy lifting and handling operations. It will handle all operations requiring the mobilisation and pooling of significant technical and logistical resources, Foselev said.

Both companies are family-owned and each is backed by a fleet of mobile cranes and workforces with multidisciplinary skills. Joining forces will allow “an increased depth of range, a wider geographic coverage and greater agility.” The combined fleet includes wheeled mobile telescopic cranes in capacities between 300 and 800 tonnes, and lattice boom crawler cranes up to 600 tonnes.

A fleet of heavy transport equipment complements the cranes and additional investment in equipment was under consideration at the time of writing in late April.

From a sustainability standpoint, the combination will help reduce emission of carbon dioxide because there will be a reduction in the distance that equipment has to be moved, among other things, the company said.

GIE Megalift’s corporate identity incorporates Foselev and Ponticelli colours. Its head office is in Valenciennes, France, and starts operating on 1 May 2022.

Foselev was started in 1970 and now has 3,000 employees and a turnover of €400 million (US$ 425 million). Ponticelli Frères has been in business since 1921, employs 5,000 and has a turnover of €785 million ($ 833 million).
