Denka Lift DK18 trailer mounted platform

2019 - ESA/CNES

Seven Denka Lift DK18 trailer mounted platforms have been helping to construct the new launch pad for the European Space Agency (ESA).

The platforms were sent from Denka owner Rothlehner’s base in Massing, Germany, back in the third quarter of 2017. Packed in 40ft containers they were sent to the The Guiana Space Centre in the northwest of Kourou, in French Guiana, South America, and have been performing their services reliably at the launch site since.

The machines mainly work on the structural steelwork of the launch site as it grows in height. Rothlehner said the DK18 trailer mounts were chosen for their high stability, low weight and battery operation.

Engineers and construction workers are working at full tilt at the site as the maiden launch of the Ariane 6 rocket is set for July 2020.
