The Kobelco SL4500 Light Configuration compared to the standard model

Kobelco Cranes has developed a new 300 tonne lifting capacity SL4500 Light Configuration variation of its 400 tonne SL4500, launched at Intermat in April.

The SL4500 Light Configuration's main features come in its lower transport costs and shortened assembly and disassembly time. The light configuration also includes luffing boom and luffing jib specifications.

The base machine and boom base of the light configuration are common components with the standard configuration (width 3 m). However, the transport width of the light configuration's attachment is only 2.5 m, which is the limit of normal transport width in most countries, explained the company. This allows for easy and economic transport using high bed trailers.

Furthermore, the crane uses 151 tonne counterweights only, reducing the number of trailers needed.

Maximum load-moment of the machine is 2,140 tonne metres. It was developed in response to demand and in close cooperation with several key buyers around the world, added the company. Maximum luffing jib configuration is 132 m, with a 66 m luffing boom and 66 m luffing jib.

While total counterweights of the light configuration are reduced because of lighter attachments, the lifting capacity maintains the same lifting performance with the standard configuration, Kobelco added.

The SL4500 Light Configuration is equipped with a 320kW engine that complies with Stage 3 American and European emission regulations.
