Sarens and PSG join for wind work

Sarens strengthens its offshore wind industry capability in Scotland with joint-venture operation

International heavy lift and transport specialist Sarens has formed a joint-venture operation with PSG Marine & Logistics Ltd to better serve the offshore wind and renewable energy sector in Scotland.

PSG is based at the Port of Cromarty Firth deep water facility. It supplies support services, including logistics, marine, heavy lift and transport, port marshalling, and assembly work in the rapidly expanding offshore wind sector.

Sarens PSG will offer heavy lift and transport, load ins and load outs, assembly and port marshalling.

Commenting on the new venture Carl Sarens, Sarens technical solutions director, said, “We are looking forward to make this JV a success in the fast growing offshore market, where the combination of our heavy lifting and heavy transport expertise, together with PSG’s marshalling capacity and access to deep water quaysides, will bring an added value to the market.”

Having access to Sarens’ market-leading heavy crane and SPMT fleet, engineering capability and the Sarens giant ring crane fleet, will enable Sarens PSG to provide clients with the most comprehensive offering of heavy lift, transport, assembly, load in and out, and port marshalling services currently available in Scotland.” Clark said the world class facilities at Invergordon and the Cromarty Firth are ideal locations for Scottish offshore wind sector project execution.

“However, the JV is looking for opportunities at all the marshalling facilities around Scotland. Sarens PSG has been specifically incorporated to support the rapidly developing offshore wind market and assist in solving some of the current issues around heavy lift capacity, deployment and WTG [wind turbine generator] integration, as the Scottish market scales up to floating wind commercialisation and the Scotwind project build-out”

For his part Bob Buskie, Port of Cromarty Firth CEO, said, “This joint-venture will deliver an extensive heavy lift design and implementation capability together with a broad range of transport and logistics support services to customers in the fixed and floating offshore wind market who plan to use the Port of Cromarty Firth as their manufacturing, marshalling, storage, and integration hub. This new capability will broaden and strengthen the supply chain capability across the whole of the Port of Cromarty Firth and will support our customers’ commercial contracting frameworks extremely well.”
