CM Labs’ new Boom Truck Simulator teaches operators how to deploy and use a digger derrick attachment.

Exercises in the simulator ensure operators receive practical training for real world experiences

It was designed in collaboration with different OEMs to help ensure precision engineering and realistic machine behaviour, the company said.

The simulator can be paired with CM Labs’ earthmoving and lifting equipment training and runs on the desktop Vortex Edge Plus, the motion-enabled Vortex Edge Max, andVortex Advantage, which can all be paired with control levers.

Training association approval

Trainees progress through a curriculum developed in consultation with training organisations, including the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers (IBEW) and the Electrical Industry Certifications Association (EICA).

Built-in certification exercises ensure operators receive practical training for real world experiences and the pack features progressive exercises, from beginner to advanced, designed to teach skills and build confidence.

Learning outcome include; controls familiarisation, deploying outriggers, handling loads, preparation for certification, deploying and using a digger derrick, and hoisting a pole and installing it inside a drilled hole.
