Montarent renews self erecting crane fleet

Netherlands-based crane specialist Montarent has renewed its rental equipment fleet with an order for 15 new Potain self erecting cranes from Manitowoc.

Headquartered just outside of Amsterdam, Netherlands, Montarent is specialises the rental and sale of self erecting cranes and manufactures customised self propelled wheeled and tracked chassis that its mounts with tower cranes, which are sold as quick-assembly units under its Montalift brand.

The equipment deal, which was signed at last month’s Bauma event in Munich, Germany, includes 12 of Manitowoc’s Potain Igo MA 21 models and three of its larger Igo 32 self erecting cranes.

While the Igo 32 has a maximum hook height of 22 metres and can lift 1.1 tonnes at its 30 metre jib end, the smaller Potain Igo MA 21 is a 1.8 tonne crane that can be operated via radio remote control.

This enables crane operators to move around the jobsite and to carry out a wide range of different tasks.

Montarent will mount the crane one its 4WDS chassis, creating its Montalift M32 4WDS and M21-4WDS, described as being the most popular among its customer base. 

The combination of the four-wheel drive chassis and the Potain Igo MA 21 also means the cranes to be moved while fully erected, and positioned with the use of four extendable hydraulic outriggers.

The Montalift’s onsite driving and steering is managed via cable control, while for transport the unit can fold down to 12.1 x 2.8 x 3.1 metres to travel on a low loader.
