Video podcast: Global Mobile Crane Fleets

Chris Sleight, managing director at specialist research and forecasting company Off Highway Research (OHR), spoke to deputy editor of International Cranes and Specialized Transport (ICST), Niamh Marriott, about the latest report, Global Mobile Crane Fleets, a comprehensive and in-depth look at the core trends from this vast and vital industry.

Discussions centred around this latest study, which was produced in partnership between OHR and ICST magazine and is based on a multi-year analysis of ICST’s IC50 league table of the world’s largest crane-owning companies. The new 100-page report looks at, among other things, the way crane numbers and lifting capacities have changed over the years. It sheds new light on the development, size and composition of the world’s largest mobile crane fleets.

“Having diligently gathered this data every year for almost 20 years it is now great to see all the numbers properly ‘crunched’ by OHR and turned into meaningful long-term trends with some interesting analysis,” said Alex Dahm, editor of ICST. “Just one example is how the capacity of the largest cranes in fleets has increased during the 20 years, from an average of 800 tonnes then to more than 1,200 tonnes now.”
