Crosby debuts Straightpoint ChainSafe

The Crosby Group has launched the Crosby Straightpoint ChainSafe, a new measuring device to protect and secure cargo during transport.

By measuring the tension on chains, it can help avoid costly breakages

Designed for the transportation and construction industries, the new 4 tonne capacity device measures the load on lashing, load securement, tie-downs and chain sling legs. By measuring the tension on chains, it can help avoid costly breakages.

ChainSafe has a range of chain fittings and can be customised.

The device connects to Crosby’s free app, available for Android or iOS and gives real-time overload alerts, and reporting for later analysis. It has a range of 100 metres and is housed in an IP67 rated stainless steel enclosure for use in harsh environments.

Thomas Dietvorst, director of the technology solutions division at Crosby, said, “Transportation professionals, and those responsible for small to medium crane lifts, have already noted the benefits of adding ChainSafe to their lifting and lashing applications and how precious cargo is protected.”

Additional features include a five year battery life (based on four hours of use per day) and an internal antenna.
